religious crosses

The cross is a symbol of Christ’s suffering in order to redeem mankind. These are reminders of His passion and death. Catholics are enjoined to have an altar in their homes where a religious icon such as the cross is venerated.

Catholics usually have their religious crosses blessed at the Church. The priest blesses religious items such as crosses, religious statues, and medallions with Holy Water. This is done to sanctify the item.
