care packages

When we talk of care package we refer to a parcel of food or supplies sent for comfort purposes. It refers to packages sent to soldiers, students off to college living in dormitories and to relatives living abroad. What most of us don’t know is that CARE is acronym for Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere. It started as a relief program to Europe where large numbers of people were at risk of starvation after WWII. The first care packages were surplus food packages that Americans bought for $10 to send to friends and relatives in Europe.

Today, care packages are still being sent to soldiers abroad. Different packages are available online and they can be sent out even if the sender has no specific soldier to send it to. They can be assigned a soldier automatically. Care packages vary in price and can contain cookies, sweets and nuts, hygiene care for women or drink packs for men. You can even design your own care package. These packages are specially in demand during the Holidays.
