holiday postcards

This Christmas season, I received a whooping total of two Christmas cards through snail mail from friends and relatives abroad. I received both a week after the end of the holiday season. And to think that I have more relatives abroad than I have at home. When did we stop sending holiday cards? Why did we stop sending holiday cards?

Years back sending out holiday postcards used to be compulsory during the holiday season. Pictures of families were taken, printed and sent out to families and friends abroad. It was one way of updating them about the year’s milestones and so people back home are in the loop about the changing looks of the families. With the advent of the e-mail and free electronic cards all these have changed. We sent our greetings by email and get much more pictures through digital photo shows.
